The BEST Oreo Cheesecake Dessert Cups for Your Dessert Table

This post is all about the best oreo cheesecake dessert cups that are perfect for any party, baking day with kids or just because you’re craving it!

I think I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t like oreos. This recipe is packed with chocolatey goodness, from the cake, to the cheesecake crust, to the oreos. You will taste every layer in each bite of this trifle.

If you are looking for an easy dessert recipe to make for a crowd you are in the right place. This recipe is perfect for the DIY or self taught baker, like myself. While the cake recipe is homemade, we’ve got a simple no bake cheesecake box and premade cream cheese frosting to keep this easy enough for anyone to make.

Imagine how pretty these would look on a display table for your party guests? My mouth is watering just looking at this picture. Let’s get into this oreo cheesecake dessert cups recipe!

Chocolate Cake

We’ll start by making the chocolate oreo cake because it will take the longest and can cook while you prepare the rest of the ingredients for assembling the dessert cup.

Add in all your dry ingredients – flour, sugar, cocoa powder, oreo crumbs, baking powder and soda, and salt into a medium sized mixing bowl and whisk together. Then add in all of your wet ingredients at once afterwards and mix together with a whisk or stand mixer and medium speed. The one thing I love about my chocolate cake recipe is that it is one of the simplest. All the dry ingredients at once and then all of the wet. No need for mixing in betwee wet or dry ingredients.

Now when you mix make sure you only do so until the ingredients create a smooth, but slightly thick batter. You don’t want to overmix.

Negative Results of Overmixing

While mixing a cake too little wll create a crumbly texture, mixing it too much will do the opposite.

The over mixing causes the gluten in the batter to form a tougher and gummier cakee rather  than the perfect mix of a moist and soft bite.

Certain types of baked goods do require more mixing like cookie doughs, but cake is not one of them. So as yo mix your batter, know that mixing until combined means just until the ingredient or ingredients you have added are no longer seen.

Now pour the batter in a oiled or baking sprayed pan and put in the oven at 350F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

While letting that bake, prep the rest of your ingredients for easy layering of the oreo cheesecake dessert cups.

Cheesecake Filling

Now onto the no bake cheesecake. I bought Jell-O brand no bake cheesecake from the supermarket, which is simple and I know from making it in the past, it also tastes GREAT.

First, you will take the cheesecake mix and put it in a bowl with the cold milk. The other good thing about this cheesecake filling is that it is perfect for the self taught baker.

From here, mix the powder and milk for 3 minutes with either a hand or stand mixer. If it comes to it, you can also di it by hand, but just know you might be in pain by the time those 3 minutes are up.

After you are done mixing you will have a very thick cheesecake filling. And now you are ready to assemble your oreo cheesecake dessert cups!

If you are using short disposable cups for the oreo dessert cups then you will probably only fit one layer.

If you use glasses similar to those pictured about you will get two. To top it off, especially if adding to a dessert table, stick a whole oreo straight into the top and crumble some oreo pieces on top of the whipped cream.

This will create a beautiful and seamless look of organization among all the oreo dessert cups. Voila! You are done. Set these out for your guests, enjoy by yourself or share with your household.

  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Cheesecake Filling

  • Jell-o No Bake Cheesecake Box Mix
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Layering the Dessert Cups

  • 1 pack Oreos
  • Finished Cheesecake Filling
  • Crumbled Chocolate Cake
  • Store Bought Cream Cheese Frosting
  • Whipped Cream Buy it premade or take 1 cup of heavy cream and a couple teaspoons of sugar and whip together with a whisk until you get a semi-stiff peak.

Instructions

Chocolate Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl together; the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, crushed oreos, salt, and baking powder and soda
  • Mix with a whish until fry ingredients are combined
  • Add in all wet ingredients; the eggs, vegetable oil, buttermilk, water, and vanilla. Whisk this together until completely combined
  • Pour into a baking pan sprayed with nonstick spray or butter. Put in the oven for about 20 minutes or until poked with a fork or toothpick that comes out clean.

Cheesecake Filling

  • Take the cheesecake mix and milk and use a stand or hand mixer to mix on low speed for a couple minutes
  • Then whip the filling at medium to high speed for another three minutes. The filling will be thick.

Layering the dessert

  • Take about 7 oreos and crush them in a bag with a rolling pin or other desired tool.
  • Mix this with 2 tablespoons of butter. This will be used for the layer under the cheesecake filling, acting like a cheesecake crust.
  • Take your dessert cups and line them up on your table. Fill each with some of the crushed oreos and melted butter mixture.
  • Next scoop in some cheesecake filling.
  • Crumbled chocolate cake on top of that.
  • Scoop in or pipe some of the cream cheese frosting.
  • Take whole oreos and crumble in your hands on top of the cream cheese frosting.
  • Top that with whipped cream and then repeat, starting with the crushed oreo and melted butter mix again.
  • If you are using small dessert cups, you will likely fit one layer, if you use large cups, like those pictured in this recipe, you should get 2 or 3 based on how tightly you pack your cups.
  • For that pretty look if you are serving these to guests, once you reach the last whipped cream layer, crumbled some more oreos on top and stick a whole oreo into the whipped cream!
  • Refrigerate these dessert cups for at least 30 minutes before serving.
